Our favorite time of the year is coming!

Hands down, Halloween is my favorite time of the year. I’ve been doing the cosplay route for a few years before giving birth. We introduced Jellybean to her first Halloween event last year where she was Snow White. This year, I gave her a choice of costumes. She wanted to be a black cat and Mal of Descendants. Perfect!

Only, they don’t have Mal costumes anywhere in the Philippines. So sad! So, I decided to make my own. This was pretty easy to do. Just got a dark denim jacket, cut up some old skirts that are pink and purple and did some coloring using textile paint. It did remind me of a few things back in my costume-making days: hand-stitching denim is painful! And I have a new found appreciation for kids clothes, they’re so tiny and a bit difficult to work with, which is why they’re expensive. Anyway, worked on this all night and I’m so glad the little girl loved it. Just a few finishing touches and it should be absolutely amazing.

For those traveling during Halloween, we highly suggest makinga stop at theme parks. Your kids will absolutely love ’em. Disneyland often goes with the theme and goes all out with Nightmare Before Christmas. In the US, Knott’s Berry Farm becomes Knott’s Scary Farm — that’s something you shouldn’t miss!

Will post more pictures soon. Watch out for our mommy-daughter costume coming up in the next post.

Happy Halloween!
